Fresh snow deadens worldly sound, leaving only a hushed peace. It brightens the darkness, softens and hides distracting details and gives graceful context to a line of newly constructed homes that otherwise only detract from the scene.
On this most recent Christmas Eve night, it snowed in north Georgia. In the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, folks watched it fall and then slept with the knowledge that there would indeed be a white Christmas this year. Indeed.
